Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would put her in America's eyes, into the category of child prodigy. However, for a child with Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and family, those were not innate traits. Maureen entered the sanctity of family on the 17th of August 1920, in Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin and was also the owner of the well-known Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons placed second in a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen excelled at sports and loved rough games. Her natural ability to perform was a perfect complement to her passion for sports. She took home almost every Feis Award for Theater and Drama that her country had to provide. At the age of 14, she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her dreams of classical theater as well as singing opera.
